Whispering Booth - Collaborative Project

This project seeks to generate a piece of furniture that proposes a speculative design solution and responds to the problems posed as a result of the "Home office" after COVID 19. When generating the consequent concept, the problem was raised that due to the overexposure of screens, interconnectivity, excessive use of social networks and virtual interactions, there would be a future need for privacy, introspection, human contact (although people do not think they need it), closeness in every way and it proposes a totally unfriendly and frivolous human race before the rest of the human beings.

After an investigation and rethinking of the problem, we identified certain activities or moments that humanity will stop experiencing, moments that incite this connection, privacy and personality in situations where no one is seeing us, and one of the identified moments was to tell a secret, whisper something to someone's ear, etc. What this whispering booth proposes is to simulate the sensation of a whisper.

The user will have to go to the booth at the beginning of their work day and listen through the nozzle what their superior assigns them during the day. The nozzles have the ideal volume and position to force the user to stoop and pay close attention to what the whisper says, in the same way the temperature of the mouthpiece increases to perfect the sensation of someone speaking to your ear and in case of having a doubt , the user is expected to use the lower nozzle to reply to their superior in the same whispering format.

All this approach aims to return a bit of humanity to the work practices of the inhabitant of our post-Covid dystopian concept 19.

This furniture piece is part of the "Home Office Futures" project for Furniture Design class at Tecnológico de Monterrey.

The whole design process was a collaboration with Fernanda Rodirguez.
